Terms of Service
Last updated 6 September 2026
Squiszi is a marketplace. We connect guests who want to eat with hosts who cook in their own homes. We are not a restaurant and we do not cook your dinner — these terms explain who is responsible for what.
1. Who we are
Squiszi is operated by Capital AI Srl, a company incorporated in Italy with registered office at Via Giuseppe Ripamonti 19, 20135 Milan, Italy, VAT and tax number 13856590966. In these terms “we”, “us” and “Squiszi” mean that company.
2. What Squiszi does, and what it does not do
We provide the platform. Hosts list dinners; guests book and pay through us. The meal itself is provided by the host, not by Squiszi.
The host is solely responsible for the food they prepare, for the safety and suitability of their home, and for holding any licence, registration or permission their local law requires. We verify hosts to the extent described on our Trust & Safety page, but we do not inspect kitchens, we are not a food-safety authority, and we cannot and do not guarantee that a given host is compliant with local law.
We act as merchant of record for payments, which means the charge on your statement is from Squiszi and we handle refunds and payment disputes. That is a payments role. It does not make us the provider of the meal.
3. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract. Keep your login secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. Give us accurate information and keep it current.
4. Bookings and payment
A booking is confirmed when your payment succeeds and we send you a confirmation. Prices are shown per person and include the host’s price plus our service fee, which is displayed before you pay.
We take payment when you book and hold it until after the dinner has taken place, at which point the host’s share is released to them. This protects you: if the dinner does not happen, we still hold the money.
5. Cancellations and refunds
Cancel 48 hours or more before the sitting and you receive a full refund, including the service fee.
Cancel within 48 hours and the booking is not refundable. By then the host has usually shopped for your meal, and a seat at a small table is hard to resell at short notice.
If the host cancels, you receive a full refund, whenever that happens.
Because a dinner is a leisure service supplied on a specific date, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply — this is the exemption in Article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU and the equivalent provision in your national law. Your other statutory rights are unaffected.
6. Allergies and dietary requirements
Tell the host about allergies and dietary needs when you book. Hosts must give you accurate allergen information on request.
A private home is not a commercial kitchen and cannot guarantee the absence of cross-contamination. If you have a severe or life-threatening allergy, consider carefully whether eating in a stranger’s home is right for you, and speak to the host first.
7. Behaviour at a dinner
You are a guest in someone’s home. Arrive close to the stated time, treat the home and the other guests with respect, and follow any house rules in the listing. We may suspend accounts for harassment, discrimination, damage, or behaviour that makes a home unsafe.
8. Booking outside the platform
Arranging or paying for a dinner outside Squiszi after meeting through it is a breach of these terms. It also removes every protection we provide — payment protection, refunds, and any recourse if something goes wrong.
9. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, and because we provide the platform rather than the meal, our total liability arising from a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking.
We are not liable for the acts or omissions of a host or of another guest. Claims relating to the meal or the premises lie against the host.
10. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we reasonably believe presents a safety or fraud risk, or where the law requires it. Where we hold money for a confirmed booking, we still honour our refund obligations.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. For material changes we will give notice before they take effect. Bookings already confirmed are governed by the terms in force when you booked.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by Italian law, and the courts of Milan have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your own country.
