About

The best meals aren’t in restaurants.

Somewhere near you, someone is cooking a dish their grandmother taught them. Not for a living — for the pleasure of it. The recipe is not written down. It is not on any menu. And there is usually a spare seat at the table.

Squiszi exists to find you that seat. Hosts open their homes for an evening, cook what they actually cook, and sit down with the people who come. You book a place the way you would book a restaurant, except it is a home, the cook is at the table, and there are eight of you rather than eighty.

We are a small marketplace, not a restaurant group. We do not write menus, set prices, or tell hosts how to cook. Hosts decide all of that. We handle finding, booking and paying, and we take a modest commission for doing it.

What we care about

Hosts should be paid properly. We charge 5% to the host and 5% to the guest. That is low for a marketplace, and deliberately so — a host who does well by hosting will keep hosting.

Nobody should be surprised at checkout. The price you see includes our fee. There is no line item that appears at the last step.

We would rather say “we don’t know”. We do not inspect kitchens or verify that every host is licensed in their city, and we say so plainly on our Trust & Safety page rather than implying a level of vetting we do not perform.

Cook for people?

If you have a table and something you love to make, we would like to hear from you. Hosting is not a full-time job — most hosts do two to four dinners a month.
